Techbreak - December 2006

tag

This tool I stumbled upon at Techcrunch lets you tag everything on your desktop. That way you can tag everything on your desktop and arrange it properly. The tags will simply stick to your files. It only works with Windows XP

and vista.

All you have to do is download the tool and you can use it either as a floating tool bar on your desktop or you can integrate the search box into your tool bar. To integrate into your tool bar right click on the tool bar and the tool bar>tag2find tool bar. To have the floating tagbox just double click on the tag2find icon in your systray.

You can even drag and drop files to the Icon for tagging.

To have a good look at what this amazing tool can do visit the learn more page or watch the video here.

It is now in the beta stage and you have to apply for a technical preview program here to use the tool.

It's time to Participate in Pixelotto.

pixelotto

I guess many of you have heard about Alex Tew the man who made a million out of his milliondollarhomepage by excellently executing his unique idea. There have been many copy cats that followed but they just remain rip offs.

And Alex is back this time with his new website Pixelotto.com. This time the idea is to give some benefit to the user too after the ads are clicked on. It is done by giving the registered user a ticket for a lottery which at the end can earn you a million bucks.

A free registration is required. And you can click on 10 ads in a day each earning you a ticket. If you click more than 10 times only the first 10 clicks are accounted for.

Also, make sure that you click on all the ads at least once because according to the site the draw is made in such a way that an Ad is chosen at random after all the space has been sold and then all the users who clicked on that Ad will be included in the draw.

This time it is $2 per pixel where as in in the milliondollarhomepage the advertisers paid $1 per pixel. But since the revenue is split with the user it will send more visitors to the site and also more clicks. So the advertisers are willing to pay $2 per pixel and in the end it would give Alex a cool One million dollar again after splitting the other One million with the lucky winner as part of the lottery scheme.

EULA analyzer.

December 24th 2006 11:04

How many of us read the End User License Agreement before we install a software? One of the perils of not reading the EULA and installing the software is that you could be agreeing for spywares to be installed along with the software. And that is how the people who install the spyware escapes the law by claiming that the software was installed with the "Informed consent" of the user.

Yeah, it is definitely a hard thing to read the whole agreement especially when they are written in such small fonts and too long. This where the EULA analyzer called EULAlyzer comes to your help. EULAlyzer can analyze license agreements in seconds, and provide a detailed listing of potentially interesting words and phrases. Discover if the software you're about to install displays pop-up ads, transmits personally identifiable information, uses unique identifiers to track you, or much much more.

All you have to do is drag the EULAlyzer's capture icon to the text. Or you can even copy and paste the agreement into the program and click on the Analyze button. The program analyzes the words and flags it at different Interest ID levels and draws the attention of the user even to words that are cunningly phrased to trick the user.

So before you click on the "I Accept" button next time use this program and analyze it.

Download EULAlyzer.

The Russian Mp3 site Allofmp3.com has been sued by the RIAA for a whopping $1.65 Trillion. The RIAA have been trying it's best to shut down the site and so far there has been no success.

The site is legal in Russia but is considered to be illegal in other countries since they don't pay royalties to artistes.Instead of paying royalties to the record labels, they share a cut of its revenue with a Russian licensing group, which according to the owners of the site claims is in complete compliance with local laws

Users of the recently released Firefox 2 are advised to download the updates since Mozilla has released 8 security updates of which 5 are rated critical. However the recent vulnerability which allowed phishing attackers to steal passwords has not been fixed yet. The only solution for this is to disable the password manager.

The users should get an automatic update notification and if automatic update is turned off then use the "Check for updates" option on the help menu. The updates can also be downloaded directly from the Mozilla website. To do that use the following links

sony usb drive

How about an USB drive which is secured with a finger print reader? You might wonder why you need such a thing especially when you see the Pound 59 price tag for an USB drive. Well, the idea behind this is that this USB drive can be shared by a group of users (if not single person who does not care about spending that much money for a USB drive with a Thumb reader)for storing sensitive information such as passwords etc:-
