December 8th 2006 11:31
According the Eeye's Zero day vulnerability tracker there are currently seven active (unpatched) zero day vulnerabilties and all of these are related to Windows. According to the list the currently unpatched ones are:-
*Word Unspecified Exploit
*ASX Playlist
*Internet Connection Sharing DoS
*ADODB.Connection ActiveX
*Microsoft Office 2003 PPT Local DoS
*WMI Object Broker ActiveX
*RPC Memory Exhaustion
As I mentioned above all of the currently active vulnerabilities are affecting Windows users.
There are also 18 other vulnerabilities that have been patched which you can see in the archived list.
Eeye also offers a free software called Blink which takes care of these vulnerabilities. It is free for the home users and does not have certain features like anti-spyware etc:- which is only for the paid version that comes for $ 59. But the free version takes care of these vulnerabilities and that is what we need right now.
Incase some of you are wondering what a zero day vulnerability is it is the one that is known to be exploited within the same day as the vulnerability was publicly announced.
