Allofmp3.com sued by RIAA for $1.65 Trillion!

December 23rd 2006 08:24
The Russian Mp3 site Allofmp3.com has been sued by the RIAA for a whopping $1.65 Trillion. The RIAA have been trying it's best to shut down the site and so far there has been no success.

The site is legal in Russia but is considered to be illegal in other countries since they don't pay royalties to artistes.Instead of paying royalties to the record labels, they share a cut of its revenue with a Russian licensing group, which according to the owners of the site claims is in complete compliance with local laws.

The site carries on with it's style of business and is now even offering a 20% bonus on music for members until Jan 14 2007.

RIAA has been suing left, right and center to protect the copyrighted music. It was not long ago the makers of the p2p software Edonkey was sued by the RIAA and Metmachine, the makers of the p2p client had to settle the issue with RIAA for $30 million and also by taking off the client. But a law suit for $1.65 Trillion is just mind blowing.

This is going to be very interesting to see, at the end RIAA will have to sue Russia itself )))) since Allofmp3 is following Russian law by the book. Interesting, maybe this will hint some other fellows to move their businesses to Russia, were it seems that they will be more profitable, offer better prices to the end consumer and protected from the crazy greed from entities like RIAA. This sue is going no were.

If you read the news RIAA has managed to push VISA and MASTER not to support Allofmp3, honestly I do not know how they are charging for the songs at the moment...A dirty war against them, I wonder how they responded, what is for sure is that they can sue VISA and MASTER since they will not be breaking any law until it is demonstrated in a local court of law (in Russia) )))), just beautiful, I guess this is one of the only cases in which globalization gets hit and not the final consumer.

Tuned to see the end of the game
