Here is a look back at the past week's happenings in Internet secuirity and web world.
Firefox 3 Alpha version.
The alpha version of Firefox 3 was released for the web application developers and testing community. The alpha version code named Granparadiso alpha 1 is based on Mozilla's new layout engine Gecko 1.9 and this will incorporate better support for a crucial graphic standard namely Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) language and support for Cairo graphics library. Firefox 3 is slated to be released by the end of 2007 and is said to have many interesting features.

Eeye's zero day vulnerability tracker.
Eeye released a Zero day vulnerability tracker which has all the list of active zero day vulnerabilties and the patched ones. This helps everyone to keep track of what is going in the world of Zero day vulnerabilities.

Secunia's software inspector.
SEcunia released a software vulnerabiltity inspector. This uses the special signatures from Secunia to identify all the softwares in your machine and then it inspects the sofware for the security flaws and guides you on how to fix it.

Word Zero day vulnerability.
Microsoft was hit with another Zero day vulnerability in Microsoft word. This vulnerabilty has been rated very critical and has affected MS word 2000 & 2002 Microsoft Office Word 2003, Microsoft Word Viewer 2003, Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac, and Microsoft Word 2004 v. X for Mac, as well as Microsoft Works 2004, 2005, and 2006. When an infected word document which either comes an attachment through a mail or by other means is opened it opens up back doors to Trojans. People are advised to excercise extreme caution when opening documents from unexpected or untrusted sources.
