Rock Band looks like a lot of fun

I've missed the boat on all the music games... back in the day, my friend used to sing the praises of Parappa the Rapper, and I admit, it looked kind of fun.
When Guitar Hero came out, I didn't make much noise about it. After all, I play the guitar, and that was a game for lesser mortals. I used to be able to play Sweet Child O' Mine and Stairway to Heaven, like every other mediocre guitarist that thinks he's good enough to play Wembley Stadium.
A friend of mine recommended it and I scoffed.
'They've done an excellent job of simulating the feel of playing a guitar!' he told me, trying to suppress his bubbling excitment.
I waved my hand in front of my mouth, simulating a yawn.
Having seen people play Guitar Hero, I can now only realize how good it is at getting people involved in gaming. Here's a clip from the IT Crowd which shows just how good it is:
The latest one to come out is Rock Band, a thousand-times-better version of the original Guitar Hero... where you have a friend on a mic, one on guitar, one on bass and one on drums. All with the Rock Band kit. And then you rock out until you make it into the virtual history books of the simulated universe.
Wired magazine reviewed Rock Band and it looks fantastic!
From the article:
Let's go out and get it, shall we?

From the article:
"But it's when you're making virtual music with friends that Rock Band truly shines. Musicians know what it's like to play music with other people up on stage. Rock Band is the closest that the other 99% of the population will get to that feeling. At one point, my friend had just finished growling out the nursery rhyme part of "Enter Sandman," and the drum part kicked back in, and I found myself completely entranced. Had I closed my eyes at that moment, I would have seen a crowd full of adoring fans."
Let's go out and get it, shall we?
